La fête de la musique!
La Fête de la Musique, music day, is an annual celebration in France and in other parts of the world where music is central for all day and night. It's also the first day of summer, for the northern hemisphere, and the longest day of the year. What a perfect time to enjoy music!
The very first La Fête de la Musique took place in 1982. Nowadays, if you walk into any city in France, you will find music everywhere. From indoor and outdoor concerts to bands and solo musicians playing in the street.
If you are not in France, I am sure you can find a spot to enjoy some music and good vibes in your residing country. Just check the schedule of your nearest Alliance Française because they usually have awesome programming or une belle programmation for this occasion.
The video below is a great example of what you can find in the Parisian métro during La Fête de la Musique.
Ma petite sélection
I am going to share with you some songs that I currently like. The key here is to try to understand the main idea of these songs and to maybe even understand the lyrics.
"La même" - Maître Gims et Vianney - really nice visuals
"Chez nous" - Patrick Fiori et Soprano - beautiful lyrics
"Les rues de ma peine" - Amir - very nice voice
I’ve attached a worksheet below. In this worksheet, you will try to translate famous quotes about la musique.
